Innogrove April Newsletter

We hope this message finds you well!  The pandemic put a pause to our newsletters but we’re ready to jump back in and get busy!

We are thankful that we made it through the pandemic fairly well.   We had a number of people who were either providing essential services or were supporting those who provide essential services.  As a result, we stayed open through the past year (with appropriate social distancing procedures in place).

As we get back to what we hope will be our new normal, our regular activities have started and new ones are getting ramped up.

Startup Founders Workshops

Our next Startup Founders workshops is Thursday, April 22nd from 4:00 – 5:30 PM

The challenge today isn’t building more products, but uncovering the better product to build . A fundamental mindset shift for doing that is starting with problems before solutions. Problems, not solutions, create space for innovation. The Lean Canvas is centered around the target customers problems and how your solution creates value by solving those problems.

The Lean Canvas is a 1-page business plan template created by Ash Maurya that helps you deconstruct your idea into its key assumptions. It is adapted from Alex Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas and optimized for Lean Startups. It replaces elaborate business plans with a single page business model.

InnoGrove Startup Resource Directory (ISRD)

Many startup companies have excellent ideas in their field of excellence but lack basic information on the more routine basics related to business formation, development, and growth.

InnoGrove has started the InnoGrove Startup Resource Directory (ISRD) as a group of professionals in a range of industries who have agreed to assist small and startup companies affiliated with InnoGrove with their business-related questions.   Initially, these will be through a Zoom meeting and as we open up more from the current pandemic, this will consist more of in-person sessions in Elk Grove at InnoGrove.

For more information to sign up as an experienced professional or a small/startup businessperson who would like to participate, please go to innogrove.com/isrd.

The InnoGrove SRD is supported through funding by SMUD.

Look out for our First (in Person!) Mixer!

As COVID came upon us last year, we were in the final stages of setting up an Open House.  As we emerge from the past year, we are getting ready for a new Open House that will feature Elk Grove’s startup businesses and small companies in a fun event.  We plan to hold this in late May or early June!

InnoGrove is sponsored through the generation support of the City of Elk Grove, and other sponsors.
